In May 2022, the highly influential, Detroit-based rapper Eminem finally shared “Jimmy, Brian and Mike” with the world, progressing over the demo stages it was left in for more than twenty years.

In fact, the track was recorded sometime in 1999-2000, during the sessions for Em’s third studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP, being included on at least one tentative track-list for the project before ultimately being left on the cutting room floor. As revealed via Instagram by the MC’s long-lasting manager, Paul Rosenberg, Eminem finished the track around March 2022, as both the first half of the first verse and the chorus had to be re-recorded: as a result, the final version of the track features Eminem’s voices from two very different eras of his career.

The track ultimately saw an official release on May 26, 2022, as part of the 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition of the rapper’s fourth studio album, The Eminem Show.
